Mary Sloane received a BFA in Photography from the University of New Mexico. She worked as a filmmaker in New York and New England from 1979 – 1993 when she took a hiatus to raise her son and daughter. She has been making photographs since 1972 but returned in earnest to her photographic work in 2007 when her family relocated to Santa Fe. Mary believes in connecting with community and serves on the Board of the New Mexico School for the Arts, a public tuition free arts high school that serves day and residential students from all over the state of New Mexico. She has also served on the Board of Center Santa Fe and the Santa Fe Art Institute. Mary’s photographic work includes still life, travel photography and portraiture. Her current work is concerned with documenting our changing world in ways that defend its beauty.
